Change starts with sport. A meeting to talk about ways to promote inclusion and change through Paralympic sports.

Just a few weeks before celebrations marking the start of the 2-year run-up to the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, Milano Cortina 2026 and Allianz Italia met a special guest at the iconic Milan offices of the global insurance partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements: Andrew Parsons, International Paralympic Committee President.

An afternoon dedicated to the emotions of sport, but also to the values and legacy that the Paralympics manage to gift to the entire world and host country. After the first edition of the Paralympic Games in Rome in 1960, the International Paralympic Movement has seen unrelenting growth in one of the world’s most important sporting events. Welcoming President Parsons on his visit to Italy were the President of the Italian Paralympic Committee and Vice President of Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, Luca Pancalli, the CEO of Milano Cortina 2026, Andrea Varnier, and Simone Salerni, Deputy General Manager of Allianz Italy Insurance Products P&C and Claims.

 

Milano Cortina 2026 opportunities

Andrew Parsons, President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), said: "It was absolutely fantastic to meet and talk with the members of the Milano Cortina 2026 Organising Committee, and sense their first-class enthusiasm and dedication to making these Games great. The Games here are a huge opportunity for bringing people together around the Italian Paralympic Team and promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities, proving that change begins with sport.” The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games will run from 6 and 15 March 2026 in Milan, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Verona, and Val di Fiemme. The world’s best Paralympic athletes will compete in 6 sports: Para Ice Hockey, Para Alpine Skiing, Para Snowboard, Wheelchair Curling, Para Biathlon, Para Cross Country Skiing.
