Predazzo

The sporting heart of the Val di Fiemme, between nature and culture. Here you can absorb the history of Nordic skiing

Predazzo and ski jumping are joined together by more than 40 years of history, Nordic World Ski Championships and a long tradition of World Cup races. The Ski Jumping Stadium is one of the symbols of the most populated municipality in Val di Fiemme, an area that has always been connected to sports. As well as the entrance to the Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Nature Park — with its wonderful biodiversity and word-famous Norway spruce, which is still used today to make musical instruments — Predazzo is a crucial gateway to the nearby Val di Fassa and an access point from the valley to the slopes and activities at the famous Ski Center Latemar.

Surrounded by the peaks of the Dolomites and the wild Lagorai, it is also home to the Geological Museum of the Dolomites. In fact, the beginning of tourism and hospitality in the area is due to the great geologists of the late 1800s. The dominant Latemar Group has always been an object of study and is defined by experts as a book illustrating the "pages" of the various geological eras.

The sports tradition in Predazzo runs very deep. The sporting calendar in every season is packed with events, activities and initiatives due to the efforts of volunteers and local community organisations. One of these is the arrival of a "light" version of the Marcialonga, one of the great cross-country skiing competitions, which twists and turns over 70km among Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa, the archetype of Nordic skiing events that are best expressed in Val di Fiemme.
